Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Our teacher is Mrs Whitaker.  Mrs Currie and Mrs Wallace also support us with our work. Mr Harvey teaches us Science on Friday afternoons.

Welcome to a new academic year in Year 6. This is the last but most important year!! We have a lot of hard work ahead of us this year in preparation for your SATs and lots of fun things to look forward to…….. after the SATs in May!!

Weekly homework is slightly different in Year 6. The children are given a variety of tasks for the half term. They have to earn themselves enough points so that they can join in with their half-termly treat!!!

Guided Reading

One of our priorities this year is Reading!! Guided Reading will be slightly different in year 6. Whilst a group of children will be taking part in Guided Reading every day, the rest of the class will be practising their comprehension skills in preparation for the Sats.

Please keep up with your Home readers and visit our Library regularly!

The correct PE kit is needed in school, PE will take place on Thursday afternoons.  Homework is given at the start of each half term and needs to be completed and handed in every Friday. Spellings will be given out every Monday and need to be learnt for a test on Fridays. Please also don’t forget to read every night and get your Reading Record signed.

Attendance is vital in Year 6. Any learning that is missed is sometimes difficult to catch up with as we have to move at quite a fast pace!!
