Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Our teacher is Mrs. Law.

We are supported by Mrs Cheung. Mrs Scholes teaches us on a Wednesday and a Thursday afternoon.

Our Bible verse is ‘To love the Lord God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

In Maths we have been focusing on multiplication and division. We are learning to multiply and divide to 12×12.

In English we have been learning about recounts, newspapers and magazine. We read different articles about ‘Remembrance Sunday’ then we wrote our newspaper report. We extended our vocabulary by learning words such as civilian, veteran, allies and Armistice.

Our whole school English target is to develop motivation to read and pleasure to read. In class we have been reading ‘Invaders and Settlers’ linked to our work on the Anglo Saxons. We all read every night at home.

In History we are learning about the Anglo Saxons. Here we are having a debate about King Alfred the Great- was he really ‘great’ or just lucky?

Our PE days are a Tuesday and a Wednesday (with Mr Grime). Please make sure that the children have the correct PE kit in school. PE kits should be named. Jewellery (watches and earrings) must not be worn for PE.

Friday is our homework day! Spellings and a piece of English or Maths are given every Friday for the following Friday.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Please read at home every night.

Our school library day is now on a Friday. Remember the more library books you read, the more raffle tickets you will get to be entered into our school draw to win a prize.
