Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Our teacher is Mrs. Law.

We are supported by Mrs Cheung. Mrs Scholes teaches us on a Wednesday and a Thursday afternoon.

Our Bible verse is ‘To love the Lord God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

In Maths we have started learning about place value. We are learning to read and write numbers to 1000 and beyond in numerals and words.

Our Maths challenge was to have the number cards 0-9. We had to arrange them so no two consecutive numbers were next to each other horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Many of us found more than one way. Why don’t you have a go at home?

Our English target is to develop pleasure in reading and motivation to read. In class we have started reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling linked to our English work.

We have already been creative by starting to make self-portraits to be displayed in the hall. We used the technique of crayon etching- scratching our portraits onto black paint.

Our PE days are a Tuesday and a Wednesday (with Mr Grime). Please make sure that the children have the correct PE kit in school. PE kits should be named. Jewellery (watches and earrings) must not be worn for PE.

Friday is our homework day! Spellings and a piece of English or Maths are given every Friday for the following Friday.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Please read at home every night.

Our school library day is a Monday. Remember the more library books you read, the more raffle tickets you will get to be entered into our school draw to win a prize.

Our class assembly is Wednesday 11th October. We hope friends and family can come!
