Choir club has been running at school for many years now.
We meet on Wednesday lunchtimes. Mrs Read currently leads our School choir.
We sing for pleasure and for special occasions such as the Harvest Festival at St Matthew’s Church, the Autumn Fair in November and the end of term Carol Concert. We also sing more contemporary songs and often ask the children which songs they would like to learn.
We have strong links with the Blackburn Cathedral Music Outreach Service and are delighted to be working with them again this year to prepare for the Sing Together concert. This is to be held at King George’s Hall, Blackburn on Friday 15th March 2019 where we will join with other local schools to perform a lively and entertaining programme. Parents will receive an invitation nearer the time. Everyone welcome.
Here are some of the songs we are currently learning to sing:
|Click to hear the song||Click to see the words|
|Don’t be anything less||Don’t be anything less|
|Feel Good||Feel Good|
|Let No-one Steal Your Dreams||Let No-one Steal Your Dreams|
|Seven Billion Candles||Seven Billion Candles|
|You’re Not Alone||You’re Not Alone|
Mr. Overton leads a recorder group on Wednesday lunchtimes and children in Key Stage 2 can opt to have guitar lessons which Mr. flemming from Lancashire Music service which are subsidised by the local authority.
All the children in year 4 have a wider opportunities keyboard lesson each Wednesday afternoon with Mr. Flemming which provides them with an early opportunity to play a musical instrument and begin reading music.
