Safeguarding

Safeguarding and Child Protection  Policy

Safeguarding and Child protection are extremely important and taken seriously by all the School community. Our policy ensures that concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which prioritise the needs of the child. If School has any concerns about any aspect of a child’s welfare or safety, referrals are always made to children’s social care in line with local authority procedures. This policy is updated annually in the Autumn Term by the full governing body.

Until recently there have been no procedures for reporting Domestic Abuse incidents to schools which means that our children are left without the support and nurture that they require when they need it most. Operation Encompass has been created to address this so that by 9.00am on the next school day the school’s Key Adult will be informed that the child or young person has been involved, heard or witnessed a domestic incident. This knowledge, given to schools through Operation Encompass, allows the provision of immediate early intervention through silent or overt support dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.

At Holy Trinity our Operation Encompass Key adults are Mrs. A Whitaker and Miss J Hines.

PREVENT

Prevent is part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy

The role of the police's Prevent Team officers is to provide practical support to tackle the problem of terrorism and extremism at its roots and prevent vulnerable people and communities from being drawn into terrorism. This includes far-right extremism and some aspects of non-violent extremism.

They work with a range of partners including:

  • local authorities
  • schools and colleges
  • faith leaders
  • community groups, including women’s groups and youth groups
  • voluntary services

All our staff are aware of the PREVENT strategy and have completed training.  The designated PREVENT lead is Mrs Alison Whitaker (Headteacher)
